Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is proud to
introduce Luis and Veronica and their son. Luis and Veronica have been living in the basement of
Veronica’s parent’s house. They share one large finished
room with a bathroom in the unfinished part of the basement.
Keeping warm in winter is difficult. Luis has worked as a
painter for many years and now works at a car dealership as
a mechanic.
Luis and Veronica are thrilled about
being selected as Habitat homeowners. It is truly a dream
come true. The couple has lived in several apartments and
struggled with the high cost of rent, resulting in their
move to Veronica’s parent’s home. They both look forward to
living in a place they can afford and that is permanent.
They want to raise their son in a healthy and stable
environment. "It’s about our son", says Luis. Luis and
Veronica go on to say "Habitat will help us a lot, and we
will be sure to help Habitat back."
Both Veronica and
Luis have started on their sweat equity hours. They have
helped at the construction sites, as well as the Habitat
Outlets and in the office. Luis enjoys the construction in
particular. "It’s not like work," he says.
The
family will be living in Denver. "We are
really thankful to the Habitat Interfaith Alliance who will
help us be homeowners and raise a good family in our own
home - it will be a big difference in our lives. Thank you
very much."
